FINCH life curated is a new home for a spirit of timelessness and quality that combines the Hudson Valley’s centuries long tradition of local goods made by hand and made well with a unique and expertly curated collection of vintage and modern goods for the home. Its an understanding that a life-style is a collection that implicitly values the modern’s place with the traditional and that style is the union of good pieces.

Ambrosia Maple Credenza at Finch

This exceptional handcrafted credenza was designed and created by artist Daniel Oates in his Sharon CT studio using the unique grain patterns of ambrosia maple with live-edge features. The amazing character of the grain is caused by a beetle that bores into the living wood carrying a beautifully discoloring fungus - (though thankfully not affecting structural wood integrity).

Unit is 54" long, 30" high and 21" deep.

Daniel is a leading American cabinet maker who previously gained world-renown recognition for his sculpture, some of which can be found in museum collections such as the Whitney in New York.

The image also includes one of a pair of 1950s George Nelson chairs, lamp by Dana Brandwein, vintage crayfish kinetic sculpture by Woodstock artists James Turnbull (1909-1976) and large-format acrylic art by Jim Oliveira.

The inspiring memoir of interior designer Sheila Bridges, The Bald Mermaid comprises engaging and deeply personal vignettes that explore questions of identity, femininity, race, success, and what it really means to have it all. After receiving degrees from two prestigious universities, Bridges became wildly successful in her career as an interior designer, designing homes for high-profile clients and even hosting her own television show. But when she lost her hair due to alopecia, she lost it all: this is her story of coming to terms with what success and happiness mean to her, realizing the cost of freedom, and understanding what it means to stay true to herself in the face of judgment, criticism, and expectation from family, friends, lovers, and strangers.
