Antique Underground moves to Hudson! This most eclectic shop not only features the finest in Steam Punk and Modern Furniture but also has the best selection of Jewelry, Pottery, Art, and Furniture from Around the World.

Finding cool things is our passion. Owners Bruce, Parry and Clare met in Brooklyn years ago. Bruce has represented several studio potters from the past and present. His offerings of Waylande Gregory, Rose Cabat, Edwin Scheier are finer than any place. He also has traveled the world and his international ethnic jewelry collection is impressive. Parry's sense of style and display is also most impressive. Clare loves her vintage clothing and makes country look chic. Art work of all types abound from the unusual to the fascinating.

Some of the unusual pieces: a rotating dining table from a tire changing machine with oil drum top, a wall puzzle series by Katarina Kissoczy, an unusual industrial flat file from the 1800's, a Huge Galvanized Kitchen island, a Thai temple Carving, Old Store Advertising Bookcase, the best pair of Industrial Lockers you will ever see, tons of Storage Bins, and countless other unusual delights. Located at 711 Warren Street you'll be sure to visit often. Photos are from the Waylande Gregory collection and Rose Cabat offerings.

Closing Antique Underground

Hudson is losing one of it's recent antique stores, Antique Underground, at 711 Warren Street. The reason for the closing has nothing to do with business. Owners Bruce Block and Parry Yohannan just have other things to do.

"I travel extensively " says Bruce. "I want to do that while I'm young enough to enjoy it" Bruce takes groups with him and he has just recently returned from Myanmar. He has a French river cruise with days in Paris and 4 days in Barcelona planned. There is also a Nepal trip with Tibet and Bhutan.

"Hudson is a fun town and we've enjoyed it. The people are great, there's wonderful food and the Antique Dealers have top notch antiques. " The store is full of Mid-Centiry Modern, Industrial Furniture, and objects of all kinds.

Bruce is a mid-century ceramics expert. He has worked for the Waylande Gregory Estate and stocks the largest assortment of his wares to be found anywhere. He also has close ties to Rose Cabat, probably the last of the great potters from the 50"s. She has a major show at the Tucson Art Museum celebrating her 100 Birthday. He also stocks Edwin Scheier. He carries several of todays best potters. There's also a great selection of ethnic jewelry from around the world. In the short time the store was in Hudson it developed a following. "It's surprising how many people have come in to say they'll miss us" says Bruce. The sale is until the end of April and prices are up to 70% off. Drop by and say goodbye. Hours are Thurs. to Sunday 11-6.

United Two Design at Antique Underground

Antique Underground is now offering goods by United Two Design, a collaboration of designers devoted to reuse – reclaim, redesign, repurpose. We have found UTD to have the most creative designs combining antique material, contemporary design, and fine craftsmanship - they create personalized furniture for today’s living with unique individuality.

UTD3 Pictured here is SLOMOW a unique entrance way bench with Asian influences, a Grocery Store Industrial Lamp (above) made from a historic sign, and a handsome “DeFacto” cube chair (below) that can also be ordered in a 2 or 3 seat settee. Often using woods and parts of machine objects that are no longer available except through recycle and deconstruction of old structures, UTD's vision somehow transcends the past to present day.

Come see the array of design possibilities at Antique Underground - we can work with you and your designer to create a unique personalized décor. Be sure to stop in to our shop in Hudson, located at 711 Warren Street.

A Visit from Vintage Vandalizm

Jasmin Rodriguez, of the blog Vintage Vandalizm, a style blog dedicated to 1940, ’50s, and ’60s pinup culture, recently visited Hudson's antique shops and shared the trip with her readers:

“I wish I could relive this day over and over with the fun I had. Hudson is a beautiful place full of history that has been greatly preserved. There was magic on every single corner and the houses and buildings were works of art. We visited all of the vintage and antique shops and boy did I find some treasure! Finally; a place just a bus ride away, that has wonderful and affordable vintage and antiques. It is when you travel beyond the overpriced vintage of Manhattan that you discover much better pieces that won’t burn holes in your pockets. I also really loved the characters I met there, many of the shop owners were such fun and fabulous people.”
