ArtsWalk is celebrating it's 20th anniversary!


We are pleased to announce the Columbia County Council on the Arts (CCCA) ArtsWalk..this year proudly celebrating our 20th Anniversary!

ArtsWalk is the region's largest arts festival, celebrating the Hudson Valley's most spirited and creative artists. Activities will highlight the arts in all their forms!

ArtsWalk is CCCA's series of visual and performing arts programs and events showcasing area artists, taking place October 5 - October 19, 2014 throughout the City of Hudson...and beyond!

This year's ArtsWalk kicks off on October 5th with Windows on Warren! For two weeks, through October 19th, over 100 CCCA member-artist's works will be on display in the many beautiful storefront windows of Hudson's galleries, shops and restaurants...grab a map and see which window your favorite artist is in!

You can see all your favorite artists in one place at our Member's Show where CCCA member's art will be on display at the amazing Pocketbook Factory in Hudson from October 11 - 19. On Saturday, October 11 from 6-8pm, join us for the Member's Reception where you can meet the artists, enjoy entertainment by local performers and see some of the artwork of the region's most talented artists. The show features more than 250 works of art by CCCA members. Join us for small plates, celebratory beverages and entertainment as we celebrate the work of our talented members. The 2014 winner of the Linda Arnaud Memorial Award, Arlene Boehm and NYSCA Individual Grant Award-winner, Maria Kolodziej-Zincio, will have a show of their award-winning projects in the 'Museum Room of the Pocketbook Factory along with our Member's Show! AWalk_Reception_40-1 Join us at the CCCA Gallery at 209 Warren Street for our annual fundraiser, "The Small Gems Show" featuring the small original artworks of CCCA member artists. Each original work of art is generously donated by the artists and sold for $50 with the proceeds benefiting CCCA's community-based programs. At the same time, view the exhibition featuring area artist's visions of 'Columbia County in all Seasons', curated by distinguished artist, HM Saffer.

On October 16 -18, come watch thirty of the nation's top plein-air (outdoor) artists paint the awe-inspiring views of Olana! Artists will be painting on-site Thursday through Saturday and visitors are invited to walk the grounds, speak with the artists and watch them as they create 'Landscapes within the Landscape'. On Saturday, October 18th, there will be a show of the artists' works followed by a cocktail reception and live auction of their masterpieces at the Olana Wagon House Education Center. The event is open to the public.

ArtsWalk Literary features event throughout the weekend. The Hudson Opera House will be host on Saturday and Sunday (10/11 & 12), from noon-5pm, when twelve diverse and talented poets and authors, representing a variety of genres, will share selections from their impressive work. AWalk_Marketplace_14-2 Events continue throughout the week when Hudson plays host to dance, music, literary readings and also family-oriented activities at ArtsWalk Kids. On Saturday, October 11, 10am-4pm, join us in Hudson’s Seventh Street Park as the CCCA 'sets up its tents' for the Artist Marketplace. Artists will show and sell fine art, photography, sculpture, jewelry, crafts and more...with children’s activities, music and special performances throughout the day!

The Performance Arts Festival takes the stage at the Hudson Opera House on Sunday, October 19th with readings of plays from this year's Student Playwriting Contest winners..area students who have submitted their one-act plays and will have them read by actors in front of a live audience! There will also be special performances, musical entertainment and special guests! The festival at the Opera House on Sunday, October 19th begins at 1:00 pm.
