One of the many stunning frames to be found at Ammi Ribar Antiques is this Stanford White Frame, New York City, ca. 1890. Having Stanford White designed composition ornament and original gilding. Possibly by Joseph or Alexander Cabus.
Ammi-Ribar-Frame-March14-detail This frame is one of two known examples of this style of Stanford White frame, the other is on a painting by Charles Courtney Curran (American, 1861-1942) that was purchased from the artist by Stanford White at the National Academy of Design Exhibition, 1893. (Old and Modern Paintings Belonging to the Estate of the Late Stanford White, American Art Galleries, Mendelssohn Hall, New York, April 11, 1907, lot no. 49).
