Alfons Sutter was born in Switzerland. He opened his first store in London at the prestegious Kings Road Market in 1973. In 1976 he opened Sutter Antiques in New York City where he dealt in Oriental furniture and objects. In 1991 he moved his business to Hudson New York located in the historic Hudson River Valley, after falling in love with the region. Sutter Antiques has located itself on Warren street in downtown Hudson since that time. Alfons currently deals in Biedermeir, Empire and Art Deco furniture. He also has a vast collection of decorative objects and lighting that exemplify his eye for beauty and style. Sutter Antiques has been mentioned in publications such as Elle Decor and House Beautiful. In April of 2002, Architectural Digest listed Sutter Antiques as one of the top 100 sources for interior designers.
