David Eustace, The Way Things Sometimes Come to Rest, 2014, 108”h x 60”w, mixed media on canvas
David Eustace explores the processes of accretion, dissolution, and entropy in a series of new works entitled "The Way Things Sometimes." The stuff of man-made construction - rail spikes, nuts and bolts, bricks, rope - form constellations of chaos in mid-air or below water. Their trajectories point to destinations flung far into unknown celestial territory, or an inevitable surrender to gravity as they collide with earth's surface randomly and lie inert. The vastness of sky and ocean continues unperturbed while providing an infinite stage upon which humanity or its collateral "struts and frets." Each work in this collection is both provocative and consoling, and exalts the state of transformation.
