This dappled cream and tan carousel horse with the sweet face, tossing mane and real hair tail was made in Abilene, KS for use on one of Parker's turn-of-the-century steam riding galleries. It is a rare transitional carving that dates from before Parker's move to Leavenworth in 1911. (Upon moving to Leavenworth, the Colonel began producing very different, wildly over-styled, flamboyant horses.) Not many of these earlier Abilene horses were produced, and even fewer are known to exist -- here is your opportunity to own one! Parker-sugar-detail CONDITION: Needs nothing! Solid and sound, carved wood with a correct hollow body. NO breaks or any "damage" other than a few very minor seam separations expected in these older wooden horses. Fully restored (an older restoration by an acclaimed carousel restoration artist from Maryland) complete with glass eyes (probably original) and a beautiful, real horse hair tail. Stand is included.
